Analog is also known as AMPS Analog cell phones were the first type of cell phones created. As such you have the highest likelyhood of getting coverage in an area if you have a phone that can work with analog. There are a number of Dual band phones that will work with Ditgal and Analog networks. Generally cell companys are trying to get people off analog, as a digital cell can support 5-10 the number of users as an analog tower You can transfer data using an analog celluar modem, the modem just treats the cellular connection as a phone line. If you have a PC card modem that supports cellular, (the Megahertz 3CXM556 for example), it is normal to have to put your phone in analog mode for the modem to work. Depending on your plan you may have effectively gone roaming by doing this. Check with your service provider. I have not found a phone that is analog that has the modem built in. There are dual band phones that will do digital and Analog. There are phones that are meant to be able to do data on both bands. Lots of people have amps networks | |||||
