This mini web site attempts to provide information relating to the application of cellular technology in Land Survey.

Please note that a receiver can only be a base for at most two rovers, one using RTCM, the other using CMR.

You shold always use the most recent version of Survey Controller software.

If you have a 37779 Rev B and at 5700 then it is much easier to get everything going, there is a good chance it will work first time. See the basic configuration page

There is modem test software available to test your cell phone on a PC (updated 22 Sep 2002)

  • A good place to start is in the Trimble Section, which has the details of the equipment you will need
     
  • For a selection of the modems that I have used see the phones section

    • There is details about types of phones, which might make it easier to understand the terms that you may see when looking at phones.
    • Some very basic information on phone companies.
       
  • CDPD, works well and is very cost effective. It is also alot easier to set-up now that there is modem set-up software. Although see the information about roaming

  • If you have to build a cable there is information on cables available.
    • Mak sure that you have a 37779 Rev B or understand the differences between it and the 37779 Rev A
