CDPD is only cost effective if you are not roaming. If you are roaming it is about $6 a minute!!

The CDPD system does not work as a cell phone. You must tell the modem what channel (A side or B side) you want, if you get it wrong it will work, but you will just be roaming. With the Sage modems there is no indication that you are roaming.

In the Bay Area, GTE is on the B side (channel), so the modem should be set to B only. In other locations it may be on the A side. You should check with the provider before moving outside of your area to find the correct side setting.
