Base hangs up while answering the phone

Starts to answer but hangs up after a second.

  • The modem is getting data from the receiver as so stops answering the phone. (Not all modems do this)
  • You need the modem to say that it can not accept data until after the call has been connected.
  • For the 5700 the modem should be configured so CTS should be the same as CD.
    • On a few modems this is &S5. If the modem is configured with this setting then all you need is a 37779 Rev B. (The 5700 must have flow control turned on).
    • If you type AT &S5 into the modem and it replies with ERROR you are going to have to make a cable.
    • On a V.everything modem, which does support &S5 you don't have dip switch 7 down
    • If you can't configure the modem to do this need a cable that connects RTS on the receiver to CD on the modem
