The phone will work as a base modem. There are a number of issues.

• It will ONLY answer a data call from another Nextel phone.
• A special cable is required.

Special Base Cable

The phone will not answer the phone when there is data coming from the receiver. As such it a cable is required to be made that stops the receiver sending data to the phone until the phone has been answered.

To do this take the CD (DCD) line from the phone and connects to
the CTS line of the receiver.

CTS from the phone should not be passed though.
