GPRS

From a practical standpoint this is the same as CDPD, except over GGSM instead of the analogue networks. It has a higher data rate than CDPD and is generally available worldwide.

GPRS is being actively installed in the US, unlike CDPD, although at this time the GPRS coverage is mainly in markets with CDPD.

It is expected that GPRS and/or 1xRTT will be the data delivery systems in the medium term. There is no expectation that CDPD will go away until the analogue towers are removed.
