In general getting a land line modem working with a GPS receiver is the same process as getting a cell phone working. In pratice they are generally easier as land line modems have had to deal with devices similar to a GPS receiver for a long time. Key SettingsDTR: We do not have DTR availble on any of the serial ports today, this means that the modem must be configured to turn this off. The normal command to ignore DTR is AT&D0 More information is in the DTR troubleshooting section Auto Answer: This is done by using the command ATS0=1 This means that the survey controller init string would be AT &D0 SO=1. Note that in pratice it is recommended that you use Hyperterminal to set these values and store them to the modems memory. So that on powering up the modem it will automaitcally answer the phone. Please see the Flow Control page for discussion of the cables that you need for your receiver. Also see the trouble shooting page for what to do if your modem hangs up when it attempts to answer the phone | ||||||
